Request DetailsThe Way of Holiness Retreat Center & Lay Community was founded by Sr. Mary-Jo Cassidy in 1981. In the 1970s, she felt God calling her to establish a place dedicated to prayer, healing, rest, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
Her vision extended beyond a retreat house. She hoped to form a monastic-style lay community rooted in constant prayer and united in supporting the wider world through intercession and hospitality.
The original retreat facility began as a nurses’ residence from Jasper, carefully moved by truck to its present location. Much of the construction, materials, labour, and practical support came through donations and volunteers who offered their time and skills in service of the mission.
Sr. Mary-Jo returned to her heavenly home on August 25, 1999. Decades later, her vision continues through generations of retreatants and volunteers seeking holiness, healing, silence, and renewed communion with God.
